We spent Canada Day riding our bikes around Toronto Island. Although I was initially disappointed not to be in Ottawa for the festivities, I soon realized that it's probably pretty much the same wherever you go. Large crowds, overpriced hotdogs, cranky children and fireworks. Regardless, the weather was beautiful, it truly was a lovely day.

2007 Recap

This has been an incredible year; I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. 2007 ranks right up there with 2003; the year of wild boar hunting, cave dwelling, and scuba diving, but I think this year may have been even better. I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here, I may have not have any visitors left, but I wanted to document a few things just for myself, before I forget.

Highlights of 2007

Aaron – One of the best things that has happened to me. If it wasn’t for this blog, I never I would have met him. It was easy from day 1, no games or insecurities, and although we spent a lot time apart, never any mistrust. There were approximately 20 trips made from Ottawa to Toronto between February and November, the drive may have been long, but there isn’t one trip I regret. Moving to Toronto was an easy decision for me. This wasn’t like moving in with someone and realizing 10 days later you’ve made the biggest mistake of your life, there was never any doubt this wouldn’t work.

Traveling to Africa and Amsterdam, and over a dozen little mini trips in between.

Getting a promotion and a raise only to take a new job for less money and more experience a month later. Sometimes less is more, or sometimes it’s too little too late.

Turning 30 – a lot of women I know start to panic when they reach this age. I was ready to embrace it. Although I may not own a home, or have many assets or savings, or children, or a ring on my finger, I have a wealth of personal experience, no dependents, and I’m happy. Besides 30 is the new 20, serious. I’m not old, I’m experienced.

Quitting smoking - My biggest achievement for 2007. I loved my filthy, dirty, disgusting habit but it really is just that. I will miss you coffee and cigarette, glass of red wine and cigarette, the procrastination cigarette, after meal cigarette, I have countless excuses for having cigarettes. I know I may lapse every now and then again, and I can’t say I’ve fully quit, but I’m getting there. I will get there.

A year wouldn’t be complete without its obstacles. 2007 also brought me:

An excessive amount of parking tickets
One very expensive speeding ticket
15lbs of extra weight
The need to develop an aggressive financial investment plan
The loss of 2 good friends, with the only solution being to resolve the conflict is to simply walk away.

In summary, 2007 was a year of change; new love, new career, new house, new life.

Resolutions for 2008

I will be more fiscally responsible
I will lose the extra 15lbs of weight
I will not smoke (cigarettes)
I will take more photos
I will perform random acts of kindness, because I believe in karma, and will do my best to make this world a better place.
