I have been homesick lately. It's been too long since I've been home and I can't wait to take some time off and see my family and friends next week. This is the view that you see from the front of my parents house.
As a teenager growing up in a small town, your right of passage was to jump off this train bridge that you see in the background. My mom didn't like that idea so much, I refused to wear my helmet. I stopped jumping though the same day a girl got a spike impaled through her foot. I won't even bring up the fact that we used to swim in the whirlpools and the undercurrents in the dam below. I always thought that kids growing up in a small town were alot more creative in the activities they would pursue. I think just about everyone though had their regular coffee shop hangout while growing up, a place to go while you when you skipping school. I don't think I could ever live in a small town again, but I am proud to say it's always where my roots will be. |
