One of the best things about living in Ottawa is that it will only take you anywhere from 15min to under an hour to drive out of the city to places like this. Lac Poisson Blanc is amazing. We arrived, it immediately started pouring. I was almost ready to turn around and drive home, but it cleared up. We paddled, and paddled, and paddled; looking for that perfect spot large enough to fit a group of 10. We found a large beautiful sandy beach with some rocks to swim off. We ate, we drank, we swam, we paddled. I am so tired today I need a weekend from my weekend. There are so many great things to do outdoors in Ottawa. This is main reason why I live here and why I haven't packed it up and moved to Toronto. My favourite place to shop for all my outdoor needs is Bushtukah. For those interested in paddling, Bushtukah holds a free demo night on Monday's at Westboro beach from 5-9. Just show up and they will let you test out a kayak or a canoe. Reservations are recommended, but not necessary. That is how I will be beating the unbearable heat tonight.
