| Here they sit, taunting me, as I do to them. I have no idea why I am fascinated with taking photos of these filthy creatures. I have spent many lunch hours walking down to Bank and Laurier to attempt getting a good photo of these guys in flight. I bring cookies, I scatter crumbs, then I wait. They will fly down and as soon as they are all eating, I run at them and attempt to take a shot of them in mid air. As you can see, it has yet to work.

I think you either need a partner or go when someone else is feeding them. It happens often. Just yesterday I saw a lady feeding them during rush hour (Bank/Laurier). They were swooping in for food and out when people walked too close. That's a good time to go.

rats with wings is how a friend of mine described these critters...
but yeah.. partner is what you need. try slowing the shutter speed when you take the pic, get some movement from them. take various shutter speed settings to see the difference. good luck.

Photographing birds is one of the hardest thing to do. I've been on this for a while with the less "domesticated" varieties. There always seems to be something in the way, too far, or the wrong angle. The only thing that works for me is a good lens, the right opportunity, and plenty of patience!
Good luck

With each handful of crumbs you feed them, another car owner gets victimized....
