Caye Caulker, Belize( 02.10.06 ) PREVIOUS :: CURRENT :: NEXT
Well after proclaiming that I quit this week, and then posting poor tasteless cartoons, I will be surprised if I still have an audience left.

This is the split at Caye Caulker. It's a little island about 1.5 miles long and approx 800 metres wide. I long to be here; drinking a Beliken at sunset, after spending a day scuba diving. Sounds nice doesn't it? I am in desperate need of sunlight. I am suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), as I have every February since I was 14. Some years are better than others, but this year has been especially bad. It's been hard to get motivated to do anything. I have barely responded to e-mails, I haven't answered my phone in weeks, it seems almost impossible to concentrate, and I have been sleeping 10+ hours a day only to still feel lethargic throughout the day. Depression can be crippling, but can be treated once you recognize what it is. I will force myself to go outside this week, perhaps engage in physical activity, a friend even suggested going tanning; but I am scared to be shut in those little cancer traps.

Thank you to everyone who left comments and sent e-mails this week. It was encouraging. Please bare with me the next couple weeks as I pull myself together again. I will attempt to post "nice" pictures again, but all I have right now are photos of half eaten dead birds and piles of garbage. I am not sure how much you would enjoy those.

Have a nice weekend!

As I write thist it is 8:00 or so and the sun is shining. Get outside and enjoy it while it is here. I hope this weekend proves to be a nice one too. I suggest going out to Jacques Cartier park and seeing the snow sculptures and going for a run on the slides! I think maybe we all need to be posting some sunny pictures these days. Maybe I will dig out some of my warmer ones as well. Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Glad your back! :) I think this weekend should be good for getting some sun. I'm hoping to soak up some rays on the canal while trying to take some cool canal photos.

AHHHH Caye Caulker!! I am also missing this place, the water, the beach, the diving and of course the wonderful sun. To say nothing about the fabulous regga bars. I'm glad you decided to stay with us, thats my girl!! I LOVE YOU!

I can't say I love the winter ... in fact, I hate it. I've often found that I've kinda hybernated a little during the winter; my senses are a little duller, and I'm a little less jolly. One thing that does get me back to the summer, even temporarily, is listening to music that has a strong nostalgic association with summer days/nights, parties, trips, events, etc... The best example for myself is the Beach Soundtrack, but music is subjective. If you're as big a fan of music as I am ... this would be worth a shot :).
