Is god pleased with abortion?( 01.17.06 )

It was suggested that I not post this photo of such a sensitive nature as a 3 page tangent on how I feel on this issue would most likely follow.

We are all entitled to our own opinions so I will just make a few notes. I would first like to point out that out of these 7 protestors, 5 of them are men. 2nd, I am happy that we live in a society that allows me the right to choose. 3rd, these protestors have been marching up and down Bank St. every Friday for as long as I can remember; they are peaceful and harmless, but I still don't like them very much.

It's good to know that other people share the same opinion as I do, we have the right to choose whether or not to bring a child into this world. I understand the reasons these people are out walking the streets every Friday and respect them for their right to make this statement however do they show the same respect to a woman who has been raped?

I wish abortion protesters could think of more creative metaphors instead of always falling back on the old nazi standby. It's always "this clinic is auschwitz" or "canada's holocaust" and the like. They should contemporize--try natural disasters like the tsunami, or hurricane Katrina (although they'd really have to stretch to make those ones work), or else go way back and reference Nero or someone equally evil and ancient. The signs referring to the holocaust are looking a bit frayed around the edges; I think it's time for an update, yes? How about "Abortion is Canada's Bubonic Plague of 1347"? That reads very well.

so yeah.. nice pic. very much like the contrast between group on left trying to get attention and person on the right not even being bothered to pay attention. regarding the issue... hate, do not, for to the dark side, it leads. :) and hell yes, a woman should have the right to choose.

I would have to agree with the comment about the Nazi comparison. Auschwitz and the holocaust are very different things than abortion. Even if you did not agree with a woman's right to an abortion, at least you could try not to equate the two. Just ignorant. I notice that they are rather an old looking bunch. I guess it is hard to convince yournger folks to march the streets day in and day out. They do have the right to protest though. However, I think they might be taken more seriously if they avoided the references to WWII.

Hahah .. Derrick's comment is spot on. I concur. I see them as well, passing by on the #7 bus on my way to school. I just can't understand their mindset.

Definitely a disagreeable set of people. The holocaust references are terribly distasteful but they're also quite intentional since Morgentaler himself is a holocaust survivor.

I'm curious about what makes these people "disagreeable." Is it their age? Their sex? Their message? Are any of those more disagreeable than 100,000 abortions in Canada each year? Perhaps you can put me straight...

having been involved with my local planned parenthood for a number of years i'd run into these types constantly. there really is no point in trying to talk to them as they cannot be reasoned with. and yes.. they're usually old men which can be oddly funny if you think about it. i only get really sad when i see young women actively protesting to have their own rights taken away from themselves. i'm glad to see that you posted this photo cause i think that we, the silent majority, somehow discourage one another from speaking out against the vocal minority that actively make it their mission to impose their zealous views on everyone.
