| I wanted to post something from the abandon arena that James and I went to the other night. I had some really good shots, but it was me this time who somehow accidently deleted my entire card. Sux!
I took this one last Saturday night. This is the view from my window. I have seen some of the most incredible sunsets while just sitting at my desk this summer. I climbed up on my roof to take this one. This is not photoshop. |

I've experienced the card being deleted before. It's not a fun feeling. I've also experienced beautiful sunsets like this one. Great capture!

just curious...how do you guys go about deleting an entire card? Is it because the card is crappy or you're doing something wrong? Lest you format the card (and for that, usually every camera gives you at least two prompts), I don't see how you could wipe out the whole card. On my Nikon D70s, when I "delete all", it deletes only photos in the *current* folder, without affecting the other ones, and once again I get 2 prompts for this.
Just curious if this is due to hardware malfunction

Wow, beautiful! But at the same time kinda freaky.

Peter.... to be honest, I am not sure how this happened. I have 2 cards; both are perfectly fine. If you insist on knowing, I have a Lexar 80x IGB, and a SanDisk Extreme 1 GB. Perhaps the hardware malfunctioned, or most likely it was just me that malfunctioned. (this has been known to happen) I probably got my disks mixed up and formatted the wrong one, although I don’t remember doing it. Mistakes do happen. On another note, I do appreciate and welcome comments, suggestions and constructive criticism. If you feel the need to write me lengthy advice, perhaps it would be more appropriate to send me an e-mail. If you are looking for a daily discussion forum, may I suggest www.fredmiranda.com

Peter,
I am a professional writer and I always welcome constructive criticism. However, I think your comment goes beyond positive suggestion, I think it borders on bullying.

Check out this site for Lexar cards with your camera:

This aslo happened to a friend of mine with this card on a Canon EOS-something something.
BTW: Awesome sunset, very peaceful.

Janet, sorry that you misunderstood my tone. I was just really suprised that one can wipe out a CF card that easily. I just wanted to know if there is something I should watch out for (ex: extreme heat or cold could make the card malfunction, etc).
Christina: I wasn't giving advice and I wasn't aware there was an implied rule on the length of postings.
But I can take a hint. Won't see me "pollute" this blog no more.

These clouds are really amazing. They seem all square..like lego..Was that arena as hot as hell or what? It was when I was there. Hot like nobody elses business. Hotest place I've ever been in. A real hellish place. Great photo.

Such intense colors. Was there a local fire when you shot this?
